Hi! I’m Rev. JeKaren Bell!

Originally from Macon, Georgia, my roots are steeped in sweet tea, red clay, and the warmth of Southern hospitality, all while envisioning a world where love conquers all.

As an educator and facilitator, I teach and guide workshops and retreats that draw from my deep commitment to African Earth-based spiritualities within the Unitarian Universalist tradition. My approach is informed by Womanist philosophy, which highlights the experiences of Black women and advocates for justice, equality, and community. My connection to Nature and Earth-based spirituality inspires my work, as I seek wisdom from both the natural world and my ancestors, with love and creativity serving as the cornerstones of my philosophy.

I hold a Master’s in Divinity, specializing in Chaplaincy, from Starr King School for the Ministry. My passion lies in social justice-oriented community chaplaincy and spiritual guidance, creatively intertwined with my teaching practices.

Prior to my studies at Starr King, I earned a master’s degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management at Arizona State University and became certified as a Death and Grief Doula. My career has allowed me to embrace various roles within congregations, from nurturing nurseries to directing religious education and overseeing congregational administration. Authenticity is my hallmark; I specialize in infusing love and care into every community I serve. I’m an eternal learner, always seeking fresh challenges to nurture my knowledge and skills.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I find joy and solace in creative endeavors, often spending my leisure hours scavenging for art supplies in creative reuse stores and indulging in Netflix binges.
